As part of Muc-Off’s Project Green, the brand has packaged four of its best-known chain lubricants in larger recyclable bottles. These new bottles are bigger, cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Here’s everything you need to know.

Muc-Off is taking a larger ‘refill’ approach to its products, most notably seen with the brand’s Punk Powder, a powder that comes in a paper sachet that’s dissolved in water to create a cleaner. Though this time, the brand has turned its attention to its range of lubricants.

Now, Muc-Off’s Wet Weather Lube, Dry Weather Lub, C3 Ceramic Wet Lube, and C3 Ceramic Dry lubes are available in 300ml bottles which can refill a normal 50ml bottle six times. This then comes with the added benefit, being that it’s easy to ship around the world while saving 43% of the packaging used prior. This reduces the brand’s CO2 impact throughout the supply chain.

As well as reducing plastics, customers will save a bit of cash with the non-ceramic options offering a 45% saving against the 50ml bottles, while the ceramic lubes pose a 63% saving.

What’s really important is that each variant of lube, is exactly the same as what you’ll buy in the smaller bottles, so riders can expect the very same performance that they’ve come to know and love.

Though, due to how chain lube is best applied, the original 50 and 120ml bottle will still be available to offer a narrow nozzle to ensure proper application. The refills are simply designed to top up any existing plastic bottles.

The launch of these products comes following Muc-Off’s announcement to save 200 tonnes of plastic by 2023 and these lube refills will contribute to that goal.
