Pop to the shops, take the scenic route home, or venture onto a gravel trail just because you can – Scott’s all-new electric E-Ville range aims to make urban riding more comfortable, more practical, and a whole lot more appealing. E-Ville is a full-suspension, low step-through urban e-bike that’s designed for recreational riding as well as everyday mobility, and practicality seems to be right at the top of the features list for this two-bike platform.

If you want an idea of what this bike is all about, Scott says, “One day you’re riding to your local grocery store to pick up a missing ingredient for dinner. The next, you’re taking the longer route home just to see where it leads… The E‑Ville is an urban e-bike designed to make every ride feel comfortable, from the moment you step on to the moment you arrive… The E-Ville easily adapts to different riders and different plans.”

You get the idea. Full-suspension urban e-bikes are nothing new, of course, but they’re far from common. Each of the two E-Ville bikes is built around a custom-butted 6061 aluminium frame with an SR Suntour Raidon-R-TR T rear shock that offers 100mm of travel. The E-Ville 10 SUV is fitted with a RockShox Recon Silver RL fork with 120mm of front suspension, while the E-Ville 20 gets a 100mm SR Suntour XCM34 Boost AIR LO front fork. The low step-through frame is designed to make getting on and off easy, while an adjustable stem helps you dial in your riding position.

As well as the suspension at both ends, you get whopping 60mm (2.35in) tyres to smooth the ride, while a Syncros dropper seatpost allows you to alter the saddle height with the push of a button. That might add confidence when you stop at junctions.

In terms of electrical power, you get a Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit with up to 100Nm of torque, and a removable Bosch PowerTube battery (800Wh on E-Ville 10, 720Wh on the E-Ville 20). You can attach a Bosch PowerMore range extender.

Practicality built-in

The E-Ville is “engineered for a maximum weight of 160kg”, and Scott boasts that it offers trailer compatibility if you want to haul bigger loads.

It comes fitted with mudguards and a Racktime SNAPIT 2.0 rear rack, plus integrated front and rear lights from Lezyne to help you see and be seen.

Aside from the fork and the battery capacity, the two models offer similar componentry, although the £4,999 E-Ville 10 SUV has an 11-speed drivetrain, Bosch Kiox 300 display and all-terrain tyres, while the £4,299 E-Ville 20 is 10-speed with a Bosch Purion 200 display and urban tyres.

Scott sees the E-Ville 10 SUV as being “designed for riders seeking greater range and all-terrain capability” and “well suited to those who regularly transition between city streets, gravel paths and forest trails”.

The E-Ville 20 “focuses on everyday urban comfort and practicality” and is “designed primarily for journeys that take place on roads, cycle paths and light mixed terrain”.
