Essential cyclo-cross skills from Paul Oldham

Cyclo-cross is one of the most exciting and accessible branches of cycle sport, but there are some key skills that can make it tricky to master. I've taken part in a few 'cross races but would describe myself as a rookie. I haven't mastered the strange business of dismounting and remounting for the obstacles. At least, not with any style or panache.

Diary of a cyclo-cross racer: No excuses

Richard Mitchelson is a keen cyclo-cross racer and will be charting the ups and downs of the season in his new diary. You can read about his first race at Hog Hill here, his second race in Brighton. Here's the story of race number three which headed to the historic Herne Hill last weekend.

Diary of a cyclo-cross racer: Richard Mitchelson's first race of the season

Richard Mitchelson is a keen cyclo-cross racer and will be charting the ups and downs of the season in his new diary. And the season started for him with a very wet and very muddy round at Hog Hill. Sounds like perfect 'cross racing conditions to us.

Dawn broke on Sunday 23rd September. Well I was told by the weather man that it had, I couldn't see the sun through leaden skies and sheet rain. 'Proper 'cross weather' the gnarled hard men of my sport would say.

FS: Kinesis Crosslight T5 Cyclocross bike + Whyte 19 steel Mountainbike PICS

Hello guys - Selling off two of my lovely bikes to fund a new 29er, regretfully these are the 2 that get the least use so have to go to a new home.

First up, my most impulsive purchase to date! A Kinesis Crosslight 5T with Carbon fork, size 54cm:

I can honestly say that it has literally been ridden once since it was bought two months ago due to my interest in road bikes (sorry!). I had great plans to use it a lot over the winter and commute with it etc but it's got to go for the reasons above.

Skipping under load with new chain and cassette

I'm riding an 09 Genesis Vapour, original short cage 105 rear mech, Sora compact. I've been using it as a wet weather bike/commuter with a 25-12 cassette, but when I wrecked my MTB recently I put the Cross tyres back on and changed the cassette to a Shimano 28-12 so I could go XC on some steeper tracks.
