Aero wheels

Bontrager Aura 5 wheels

Price:
£899.98

The new Bontrager Aura 5s are very good aero wheels that, although not cheap, offer impressive value for money.

First, well done to Bontrager for getting the weights right. The Aura 5's published weights are 770g (f) and 970g (r) – and that's exactly what they measured on the road.cc scales, plus 68g and 70g for the quick release skewers.

Enve 45 clincher, DT 240 hubs

Price:
£1750.00

Lightweight, aerodynamic, reliable and fast, these Enve 45 clinchers with Swiss DT 240 hubs are fantastic all-rounders. The UK distributor has just reduced the price on them too, so it's well worth taking a look if you're in the market for some high-end wheels.

Italian brand takes on Zipp with carbon wind cheaters

Zipp 101 wheelset

Price:
£1100.00

Ever since we saw Zipp's 101s at last year's Tour de France we've been itching to get our hands on them and a few weeks back we finally did. Zipp are best known for their deep-section carbon fibre wheels but these aluminium clinchers bring a lot of the same technology in a more affordable package. Well, slightly more affordable. It’s all relative.

Tubeless on 50mm Aero Wheels

I've got a pair of 50mm deep carbon clincher wheels on order, and am currently running a tubeless setup on my 'ordinary' 24mm wheels. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of converting a set of 50mm deep section wheels to tubeless? The standard tubeless valves will be too short, so I'd need a longer valve or an extender, and am concerned that I couldn't get a good seal with an extender as they don't seem to have threads to put a locking nut on the extension. Any thoughts/experience appreciated.

Cheers
Steve
