Nothing affects your bike’s performance and comfort like its tyres – simply keeping them pumped up to the optimum tyre pressure is perhaps the most effective bit of maintenance you can do, but there is also the matter of choosing the right rubber for the sort of riding you do. Tyres come in all sorts of different sizes from the super-skinny to the fashionably fat and the ones your bike came fitted with aren’t necessarily going to be the most effective or efficient for the type of riding you do.

In the last of our cycle maintenance videos former Cycle Surgery chief mechanic, Andrew Brown talks us through the various tyre options on offer and how to choose the right one for you – and most importantly he demonstrates how to fit and set your tyres up to ensure optimum performance and comfort.
