He should be there, Ivan Garcia. He’s ticked on in the start list.

You’re right, 175 riders available. Seems he missed the valuation for some reason. Even though all riders from all participating teams are valued. Weird glitch.

Van Wilder requested not to

Van Wilder requested not to be here. He had in his contract that he’d have his own chances at the end of the season. Claims he’s too good just to be on domestique duty this early in his career.

I can see where he’s coming from, but it’s a huge blow for Remco. Van Wilder was huge for him last year.

I just noticed he is completely missing, not just from La Vuelta but from the ‘show all riders’ list.

Did he do something to upset someone?

I fear for Evenepoel as Jumbo

I fear for Evenepoel as Jumbo, UAE and even Ineos have two possible GC riders and plenty of riders who can go far in the mountains. I just don’t see that strength in Quick Step. Van Wilder not riding is odd as he is currently in the Deutchland Tour and is probably their second best climber and an asset for the TTT. And as to where Masnada has disappeared to, it’s anyone’s guess!

In looking for a Spanish sprinter, I have noticed that Garcia Cortina is missing and can’t seem to locate him at all on the full list. It will make it a two rider comp once we all add him!

Looks an amazing route.  GC battle to start in the first week.  All the strongest GC riders apart from Pog. 

Shame, the main GC teams are unbelievably strong for the Team TT.  I guess that means even more teams will already be going for minor jerseys from stage 2.  It’s possible Evenepoel might be on the back foot early, looking at the strength of Ineos and Jumbo.

The Spaniards only comp is hilarious. Basically three rider comp because everyone will have Ayuso and Mas.

The full starting list is out

The full starting list is out now , so I would expect the competition to open tomorrow at the latest.

I think it is going to be a bit of a lottery, there are few, if any strong sprinters teams and the current GC trend doesn’t chase stage wins.

So I expect lots of wins for the break.
