The start list still isn’t complete, but I’ll keep my eyes on it today. Hopefully ISN, Cofidis, and Intermarche get their acts together soon.

Any one else tempted to bring

Any one else tempted to bring Mannion in today? 3 mill and plenty of mountain points on offer. Looks ok in an uphill TT as well…..in the  end a shortage of transfers dissuaded me. I will be following opening climb very nervously now!

    Powered by nuclear fusion.

    Powered by nuclear fusion. 🙂

Good tip about Feltet by the way.  Thanks for that.

Decision made.  Slight sacrifice of being able to bring Dennis in for the TT then out but so be it.

    I’m still tempted to leave

I’m still tempted to leave Rigo out and Poels and Benoot in today.  The finish today does suit them both better and either could be allowed in the break. However, it is six points and a potential good finish down the toilet if I wait until tomorrow to put Rigo in if they both let me down again.

I knew Poels was turning into the new “Soler” but it is getting so annoying.

Procrastination or what.  Not long until the deadline!

    Got to love Rigoberto coming

Got to love Rigoberto coming good again….something very likeable about him.

For me, he looks like a

For me, he looks like a future Paris-Roubaix contender but, as you say, it depends on his team. So many riders are hard to pigeonhole nowadays…. Van Aert, Lutsenko, VdP, Ganna …. it really depends on how the team let them develop.

He’s got a nice fast finish

He’s got a nice fast finish as well. Going in a break the day after a time trial is what he needs to learn to do, just to make things easier in the game!

[quoteIOne of those few riders who could  end up being anything, much will depend on the path he and his DS want to pursue. I also made the totally sensible decision of taking him out last night, could see him mixing it in the stage3 sprint, but thought the hill at the end of stage4 would be too much for him.

I left him in because of good

I left him in because of good GC position and he might want to sprint. After seeing him do bugger all in stages 2 and 3 I thought it was time. Damn it.

Many of us did that before

Many of us did that before Stage 2.  I doubt that he was in many teams today.

I had Matthews because of the TT (ha) and it would have been silly to move him…but that final climb was always underestimated by the tipsters…

I’m not even sure about tomorrow.

If it was a better breakaway day for pts I’d be tempted to punt on Pellaud. Imhof went today so history says Pellaud tomorrow, or maybe both.

BTW…Actually wrote this yesterday for somebody…

“If you’re looking for cheap riders then it might be worth remembering that Switzerland has it’s own cycling team that is very fond of being in the break. I’m expecting Imhof and Pellaud to be regular breakaway riders. Also Matthias Frank and Schar from AG2R might be worth a good lot of pts. The Swiss riders just seem to go for the breaIks in their own tour”

I should listen to my own advice.

The Swiss historically are very active in the breaks, not always easy picking the right one though. Must admit to thinking Imhof was a new kid on the block, was surprised when the commentator said he was thirty.

    yep also stuck with Mathews

yep also stuck with Mathews and Laporte, hope they come good this stage, they are also both in my purist team which is not quite working out… Laporte’s TT was not great, looks like form has dropped since the spring…
