    and we’re back to Skegness’s

and we’re back to Skegness’s Fantasy Island and a new twist

A stressed dad says he has been “hounded” for seven months over a parking ticket due to his dyslexic son accidentally entering the wrong digits on the machine. Kieran Ramsey, 29, parked at Fantasy Island car park in Skegness with his one-year-old son on Saturday, April 23 and paid for a £6-day ticket but was left with a £30 fine due to entering the wrong car registration number.

I’m a bit confused about who’s who. Middle Mr Marshall must be the one with dyslexia,  and maybe Mr Marshall senior is the registered keeper of the car? Or did the dyslexic one year old do the parking meter?

    Bristol car parking charges

Bristol car parking charges to rocket – with some in the city centre doubling in price

will someone please think of the drivers – and Go! Cookedsock
    https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-car-parking-charges-rocket-7668838

Parking is not a statutory service, if you feel you can get a better price or a better service, or maybe both, elsewhere, you are free to use those.

I’m sure all the people who claim they no longer come into Bristol because of <inset made up reason> will now definitely not be coming to Bristol.

As anyone who has ever been punishment-passed for causing a motorist a delay of 30 seconds will know, it’s entirely possible that his delay of 23 minutes for a call of nature and waiting for someone else to manoeuvre was not accompanied by an attack of biblical rage. However… I have a modicum of sympathy. In the old days when car parks were patrolled by people, you’d never have been ticketed while you waited to exit. With ANPR, the click is ticking until you leave the site entirely.

I think it’s safe to assume the vast majority of the 23 minutes was for his wifes call of nature, this is clearly time he was still parked and should be paid for, while the feeble excuse of delayed leaving th car park due to another road user was unlikely to be more than two minutes, but we will sling some mud around and see what sticks.

from the artical, he had paid for parking until 4:33, at 4:30 they got to the car, but decided to leave it in the car park while his wife used the facilities (were they in the car park?). It’s hard to believe that he was trying to exit the car park for 23 minutes while being delayed by another car, without going totally batshit.

“I think the general public don’t know about this. I didn’t even know about the ten minute grace period until I appealed and I wanted knowledge to back me up. I had no idea it had been withdrawn, and people need to be aware of that.

Something I never knew about has been withdrawn and I feel unfairly penalised?

Letter: ‘Think twice before visiting Bournemouth’

“Despite several attempts, we were unable to operate the ticket machine.

I looked around the cars parked. None was displaying a ticket. It seemed reasonable to suppose that the machine was out of order.”

…and that somehow, all would be well?

    “Steve McNamara, general

“Steve McNamara, general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association, said the changes had had a huge effect on taxi drivers who were being caught breaking the law more frequently”

It’s hard to believe he actually said this out loud. ?
