    Hi all,

New to the forum so thanks for taking the time to read this.

I’m looking to buy my first road bike, but not sure what to look for / what ‘good’ looks like.

Happy to spend around the £800 mark, but not confident whether to buy new or used or where to look.

    I’m 5.11, if that’s any help?

Any recommendations very welcome, you’d be doing me a massive favour.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Awesome, thanks for the heads-up!

Might go and sit on a few before buying online anyway – just to get a feel for it!

Its been superceded by the Caad 13 which is a totally different frame. At 6ft tall you would probably be looking at the 56 size in the Caad 12

    Thanks, Joe.

    Thanks, Joe.

Sounds like the Cannondale Caad 12 might be a serious contender!

I’m going to pop to my local Evans today to check out sizing and will report back.

For £500 you’d be looking at

For £500 you’d be looking at Sora.Tiagra is a good step up.The Cannondale is an excellent frame, and if you get the road bike bug, worth upgrading with higher spec parts over time. When it comes to sell, there is a good demand for them.

    Thanks, Joe.

    I’m looking into this now.

Should I be looking at a Shimano Tiagra Groupset as a minimum?

    Because of the lockdown there

Because of the lockdown there’s been a big demand for new bikes,so discounted stuff in a range of sizes is hard to find. if you have no idea about the mechanics then i would stay away from secondhand/ebay as you might end up spending loads on worn out parts.

Have a look at Pauls Cycles. If your budget could stretch they have the Cannondale Caad 12 with Shimano Tiagra for about £860. Available in a range of sizes and its a great frame if you want to upgrade it in the future.Plenty of info on the internet with regards to the sizing on this bike.
