An opportunity has come up locally to me , that I think is a good deal and want it. Just need to convince the Mrs.
Main purpose is daily commute 7 mile each way as a replacement to my stolen bike. I want something a bit sportier.

2019 Giant Defy advance pro 2 – carbon frame, stock carbon wheels, ultegra mechanical shifting with hydraulic disc brake, plus a seperate pair of Hunt 50mm carbon wheels fully set up. £2300 all in ?
Bike appeared immaculate, slight scuffs on bar tape and could do with rewrapping.
One owner from new, appears genuine seller mutual acquaintances, into their bikes and more gravel , just ordered themselves a new Giant Revolt.
Heart says go for it , head says not as practical or versitile commuter but it’s something I’d want to ride than have to

    Significantly overpriced I’d

Significantly overpriced I’d say, use the “Advanced search” option on eBay to look for sold bikes and you’ll see similar (though without the spare wheels) have gone for £1200-£1500. Secondhand you can get a lot more bike for the same money or the same spec for less money.

Might also be a bit too sporty, depending on your commute: for £2300 you could buy a brand new Scott Addict Gravel 30, for example, full carbon, Shimano GRX, ability to take wide rubber and plenty of mounts: https://www.balfesbikes.co.uk/bikes/gravel-adventure-bikes/scott-addict-30-gravel-bike-2022-in-green__29651?currency=GBP&chosenAttribute=286454056

    Ride On

    Seems expensive. From what I
Seems expensive. From what I see 2nd hand prices are falling from pandemic highs. £2300 for a 4 year old mid /upper mid range bike is a lot.

Also on a side note when buying from friends they are either offering a mate’s rates too good to refuse deal or it’s very hard to negotiate the price without damaging your relationship. If it’s the latter best avoided.

    Good luck.

I’d agree it’s on the high

I’d agree it’s on the high side for the bike alone, but if the condition is as you say, OK. Thise additional wheels are nice and maybe worth £600 on their own with tyres, if condition is also good. So I’d say offer £1700 minus the Hunt wheels if you don’t want them or something approaching the asking price if you do, and you like the bike, and it fits you, etc.

Also as you don’t know the exact mileage and/or how it’s been maintained, budget £100 in the near future for new chain & cassette, a bit less if you’re comfortable replacing yourself.

    Good luck!
