Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

The Somerset Live account says a woman, the older of the two, has died.

“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, as well as anyone who may have captured the collision or moments leading up to it on dashcam footage, to please come forward.”

    It looks like the sue-happy

It looks like the sue-happy US legal system might make a lot more bollards show up in front of 7-11 convenience stores. The numbers are pretty wild, it averages out to about once per store over a 20 year period.

The case was the first in which attorneys had access to some 15 years of reports from 7- Eleven, which identified some 6,253 storefront crashes at 7-Eleven stores across the country, Power said. Data from a previous lawsuit against the company identified another 1,525 crashes between 1991 and 1996. The crashes could have been prevented if 7-Elevens had installed bollards — thick posts anchored in the ground — between storefronts and parking spaces, Power said.

Not a building, but…a ‘crash cushion’!!  At least they acknowledge that a driver was responsible for this one.

Plenty of room for a shared

Plenty of room for a shared footpath alongside a prioritised section of road – that’s 5 metres wide.

And they could lose 1m off the thickness of that hedge, too.

A silver Mercedes convertible hit numerous pedestrians and a garden wall, leaving three people seriously wounded. The vehicle burst into a fireball and firefighters were called to extinguish it.

Someone needs to tame these autonomous vehicles before others are hurt

    Ah – we can’t have

Ah – we can’t have pedestrians or cyclists – our ancient street (now road) is too narrow.  Handily though they had the foresight to make it just wide enough for two motor vehicles…

I think your link got confused…

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-64512288

Barriers have had to be put up around a newly-built cycle lane after cars were damaged by being driven over it.

Middlesbrough Council has also put up signs in Grange Road to show it is no longer possible to drive down the length of the road because of the new cycle lane and planters either side.

The changes come after a new office block was built for an insurance firm.

But a number of drivers had continued to go over the now-closed section of road, the council said.

According to witnesses, car parts – including bumpers – have been left strewn on the road in recent weeks.

A car was even abandoned after being damaged while trying to get over the new cycle lane, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
