Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

    Another Sunday, so we have

Another Sunday, so we have more local drivers making the news in the Shropshire Star:

    • Saturday night fun & frolics in Oswestry, where at around 11.30pm a car collided with a wall and railings in Beatrice Street. No mention of a driver.
    • 2 fire engines and paramedics were required after a saloon car crashed into a parked car and came to rest on side on Admaston Road in Telford at 4pm on Sunday.
    • At the same time Shrewsbury fire crew attended a 2-car collision where one vehicle had hit a wheelie bin (presumably this object was blocking the pavement, not placed in the middle of the road).

And after clicking through to David9694‘s Hereford Times link, it seems a lorry went off the A417 near Trumpet yesterday. The article adds that “The A465 was temporarily closed between Burley Gate and Bromyard after a van overturned, while there were also problems on the A44 between Bringsty and Knightwick.”

    Van and car smash through

Van and car smash through garden fence in Poole

His partner said she believes the main issue is the amount of road works making drivers frustrated and annoyed.

She said her friend suggested that a 20mph limit would force road users to slow down.

To start off, they have (had!) a phone box?! Why was the lorry on the pavement, and reversing without any sort of vision? And why didn’t the phone box respond to the “GET OUT OF MY WAY” beeping??

The lorry was going very slowly.
The phonebox was in its blind spot.
There was plenty of room for the phonebox to just go round it.
The lorry had never hit anything before and always drove carefully.
Why wasn’t the phonebox fully on the pavement?

It wasn’t wearing hi-viz and, as it wasn’t wearing a helmet, it only has itself to blame if it has any damage!
