Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

    30mph limit according to the

30mph limit according to the Council woman

A spokeswoman from Conwy Council’s Environment, Roads and Facilities Service said: “Penrhyn Hill has a 30mph speed limit sign, a gradient warning sign and the roundabout is well signed in advance.

“We analyse collisions which cause casualties to prioritise our bids for Welsh Government road safety funding. Based on our analysis, this location isn’t a high collision area, but we will keep it under review.

We expect all drivers to take note of road signs and drive responsibly.”

Shame there isn’t a strava equivalent to show it is potentially an accident hot spot. But you do have to laugh at her naiveity.

Edit: In most cases with roads like this, markings on the roads with the raised bumps and lots of large Slow Down signs are used. As of 2018, Street view shows one set of Gradient warnings, One to mention Roundabout and nothing on the roads bar a no entry sign at the bottom. I would argue the council are definitely not doing enough to warn if that is still the case.

    Maybe the local council

Maybe the local council should install some chicane barriers in the road?

BMW veers off roundabout, ploughs into building. 11.30 am on Monday, a dry, bright day in Penrhyn Bay, near Llandudno (30mph limit).

The owner of the shop was not surprised, quoted as saying “I often hear the screech of brakes and brace myself, easily between five and 10 times a day.”

If he’s getting that many close calls every day, then maybe the road is too dangerous for him to have his shop there. Honestly, why don’t these people take responsibility for their own safety and move their building? It’s all well and good saying that they have a right to have their shop there, but that’s no good if you end up dead.

This bit of sarcasm’s quite good for a local news report:

No one was on the bus –which was displaying the Government advice Stay Alert on its electronic signage- at the time of the incident.

Call me cynical, but if a driver fails to use simple observation to see the brdige is too low, why would they take any notice of an audible warning?

If they are serious, then it needs to be linked to an automatic braking system that can’t easily be turned off.
