Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

Fenton! Come back! FENTON! Oh no, he’s only gone and hit the bollard!

^ This is how I picture the scene as Mr Hunt’s company car makes an ill-fated bid for freedom while Mr Hunt is innocently on his way to work.

    Bingo time!  Bollards:

    Bingo time!  Bollards:

    – cause accidents
    – so cause delays
    – so cause pollution
stop the emergency services getting through
    – AND we’re paying thousands for them from our road tax!  At a time like this.  Madness!

    Our old friend, the Strood

Our old friend, the Strood metal bollard is in the news again (for some reason). Sounds to me like it continues to do a very necessary job:

“It is there to stop vehicles mounting the pavement to protect pedestrians but it has been blamed for causing several accidents, including one involving Gary’s son, Jonathan. He was on his way to work when his company car hit the bell, causing thousands of pounds of damage.”

For once, the article comments have it right.

And why did they bother taking an aggravated vehicle? I’d go for a nice calm one instead.

Well that’s a silly place for that sign, you can barely see it over a crashed truck!  Plus the bridge is wearing the bare minimum of high-vis.

Cosmic background radiation caused the collision?

I think may just have been a radio – or rather mobile phone – transient?

Fumin I am this morning.  But

Fumin I am this morning.  But no crashes. As well as another driver bailout in prospect (5p off fuel tax – Howard will be delighted I’m sure, but like Putin, whatever you give won’t be enough) it’s e-scooters – step forward the Kent Police & Crime Commissioner.  I assume he has similar views on the private car experiment

Perhaps it’s the beginning of a new universe of self-driving cars

Twitter thread has someone arguing that the lorry was 4.1m high but the ground was uneven so that’s why it hit a 4.2m bridge.

Note the sign just above the rear of the lorry !

Third time’s a charm… Title – the car did it. Photo caption – the car did it. Opening sentence – ah, it was the driver after all!

    Wow.  At least he’s been

Wow.  At least he’s been asked to get some treatment.  And buy the court a round of (cheap) drinks.

Ms Oxley told magistrates that Roberts had two previous drink driving offences but maintained that despite there being empty cans in the car, there was nothing to suggest that alcohol was consumed by Roberts in this incident.

(Note he walked 4 hours home so forget about blood tests). I can see I’m trying to sell bridges to the wrong people – I should be going after prosecutors!
