Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

“Officers allege the driver was already disqualified”

Not a matter of dispute though.

Car crashes into front of house leaving sitting room covered in bricks and glass

we’ve seen worse in terms of structural damage – this article describes the effect on ordinary poeople – an extract below

If it wasn’t for my Japanese cherry blossom tree [which took much of the impact of the car] in the garden that car would have been in the lounge.”

A neighbour, who said they’ve struggled with the shock of the incident since Tuesday said they tried to make sure the driver was OK before the man “leapt from the car and ran away”.

Gwent Police said a man was arrested after the incident on suspicion of driving while unfit through alcohol, but was later released without charge.

John and Heather have struggled to return to normal life since the event, and have said they don’t think they’ll be able to for some time. They’re making do in a small spare room at the back of the house.

“We’re nervous now,” Heather said. “I’ll be sat next to the window from now on and I’ll be nervous. We haven’t got our tree to protect us. Our neighbours are thinking the same thing. How can you stop something like that from happening again? It can happen to anyone. We keeping finding shards of glass in our fingers. You don’t know until it’s in your hands.”

The pair spent Sunday morning in church as usual, but this time it was even more poignant.

“We honestly believe God was looking after us,” John said. “An hour earlier and we’d have been dead. I’m not being dramatic there. With everything that came through the window, we couldn’t have survived that.”

My friend had a land rover discovery which got stuck on a drive way and there was nothing anyone could do as the electronic parking brake was engaged and the engine would not start.

Someone did suggest I try and tow it ! Yeah 2.5T of deadweight with my normal car !

Mum left sobbing as Range Rover swept away in Cornwall slams those who filmed ‘heartbreak’

Not sure this story quite adds up – do people hate Range Rover drivers (/tourists) so much that no-one with the means to tow it was around?  She does sound a bit whiney “my son had to watch…” etc – no, he didn’t.

It’s a dilemma whether to intervene sooner to save one set of risks or later while the other is de-risked.

With those dilemmas, you just have to go with the best odds unless there’s some simple way to evaluate the injury, but you wouldn’t want to be getting the patient to wiggle their toes whilst they may be bleeding out.
