Its new, blue, and not instantly off putting; I might get to like it.
Though comments now take up much more room; my scrolling finger might get tired.

argg.. and if you click on the recent comments it takes you to the thread not the comment itself.

Ok I’ll be honest , I haven’t read all the comments as I’m on my mobile (99% of my browsing) as such I’m not sure how other mobile users feel but I much preferred the old design as it was easier on the eye and easier to navigate .

However balancing the bad , the forums seem more responsive(accident or not it’s good) and the like button was a nice addition

Not sure why there is a
Not sure why there is a distinction between tech and reviews as headers, as the tech page has reviews on it too?

Arrrghhh, feeling far too much pressure now with the ‘Like’ button! Generally really like the new set up, it’s nice and fresh although the home page does all seem to blend into one… Maybe a different background?

Must say I’m getting used to
Must say I’m getting used to it now, although when I use full site on the mobile (HTC Desire X) I don’t get to see who the latest post was by, only the thread starter’s name.

The new look is growing on
The new look is growing on me. It’s really clean and clear and the blue is a good colour.
Is there any chance that you could add an option to take you back to the top of a page especially on the long posts with loads of responses, something similar to new facility on eBay?
Oh, and get you get a proper spill-chucker, one that speaks English not american? 😉

Dave – you’ve lost the stars and the yellow. Quite liked the carousel too. Perhaps more importantly we now have larger text (great for mobile devices, looks a bit Daily Mail on my screen – sorry!) Could you not use a Google or Cufon font for the header nav bars?

the stars we lost because we’re not website of the year any more 😀

all of the fonts on the site are google fonts. specifically, Source Sans Pro and Noto Serif in various weights.

because like i said, this isn’t the daily mail 😉

simply put, we’ll be using the voting data later on as part of a larger redesign of the user section. people get very protective of their ratings, and also they have their own pet hates. if you have a mark down, people use it to a) keep their rating above someone else’s and b) automatically mark down anything that someone they don’t like says.

I’m looking but not seeing it, I know that the feed still works but I’m moving from one reader to another and I can’t add Road.cc

    I’ll look into that

I mostly like it – and the release seems to have been smooth which is to be applauded.

I think the turquoise comment boxes are too light; on my laptop screen they’re almost invisible making it look like the poster above the comment was responsible. If you really want that colour you could put a thin darker blue line around the edge of the comment and signature boxes?

I also don’t mind the smilies but the HTML code could be hidden away IMO.

the actual layout of the site has barely changed at all. we’ve taken the carousel out and done quite a lot of work on the section pages, boxes, etc to make them more user-friendly, and signposting throughout the site is more consistent. oh, and it’s not yellow.

I know this is complaining about change which is easy – but compare the front page with the old and they are different and it was the difference that made road.cc that little bit special to my eyes: http://web.archive.org/web/20130614231711/http://road.cc/
