damage to frame

    Hi I recently bought a speciailized roubaix frameset with seatpost set too high and stuck tight. while trying to remove the seat post I have damaged the frame. I’m not sure if its repairable, a work colleage says its not. can you let me know how to proceed

    It’s a heat-treated alloy frame so very difficult to effectively weld-repair. Only option would be a carbon ‘bandage’ to reinforce the tube joint sufficiently to stop the crack propagating any further. You can buy repair kits from http://www.carbonmods.co.uk

    its probably not repairable
    its probably not repairable but some companies will offer a “crash damage” replacement.

    if you take it to a specialized dealer they will normally offer you a discount of a new frame to get you going.

    i certainly wouldnt ride the bike any more.

    as i say only most companies do this, not sure if specialized are one
