how about a test of your classic team management skills? for ego, no points involved. Though Dave can test / explain the scoring for 1 day races.

Same rules as usual, 150 points, 4 stars, 5 ds etc.

If I get organised I will do the same for Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne tomorrow (and because it is practise only 6 transfers between races)

    So who is in?

here is my team for Omloop Het Volk/Nieuwsblad

On the other hand, why more than a minute ahead? 30 seconds is ok… And why would it matter if the break is less than 10 riders? I say give everyone in the front group at the halfway mark 5 points!

the rules are there so that we can be clear what constitutes a break for the purposes of the game. you have to draw the line somewhere. taking your argument to its logical conclusion, if 100 riders were in the front group and 3 were in a group 5 seconds off the back, those 100 riders would all get ‘breakaway’ points.

Ouch! That’s a lot of points, Dave!

it’s not: the classics last year scored lower than most stages of the main tours. hence the points increase to keep them on par

    The maths says otherwise

Compare it to the first stage in a stage race
    1st 50 = 35 for win + 10 for 1st in GC + 5 for 1st points
    2nd 43 = 30 for 2nd + 9 for 2nd in GC + 4 for 2nd in points
    3rd 36 = 25 for 3rd + 8 for 3rd in GC + 3 for 3rd in points etc.
Then you have the young riders & KOM comp

So picking the winner of Paris Roubaix or Ronde Van Vlaanderen is worth as much as picking the winner of the first stage of the Tour of Qatar or Tour of Bejing

The 10 pts halfway bonus is in exchange for KOM & Sprint points you get in stage races, and it will only happen some of the time, not every race.

I like the points for the one day races

    Thats the points for
Thats the points for Classic’s Orli, not stage races

There were points for breakaway’s last year aswell

But i do agree with the gaps, its a bit OTT on the points side

Ouch! That’s a lot of points, Dave! Too many, in my opinion! It’s kind of crazy! Can’t we go back to something a little less onerous and pack the points a little closer to keep the competition closer and within reach if you mess up a little in your picks? It’s painful! đŸ™‚

Just wondering, are there sprints in the middle of Classics races? ‘Cause if there are, why offer these points?

On the other hand, why more than a minute ahead? 30 seconds is ok… And why would it matter if the break is less than 10 riders? I say give everyone in the front group at the halfway mark 5 points! Yeah, I’m being picky, I just think the game will just explode and the gaps will become tremendous with all these points on offer. I’d rather have a close game than ‘uncatchable’ leads…

    I wont bother sorting the
I wont bother sorting the quotes out, so i’ll just reply

The reason I didn’t spend 5 mins picking my own team was for two reason’s,

1, This race is not in the fantasy game, so i’m not fussed about riders
2, I wanted to make a point, why this game can’t be played on forums, like on other sites, I was just waiting for someone to post and team and I would have done the same

Yes its a bit of fun, but ultimately of no consequence to the fantasy game đŸ‘¿

OK, I’ll edit my team to not have copied others and cause offence to those who put in “time and effort” to pick a team

Philippe Gilbert (BMC) AR Value: 40.0
Greg van Avermaet (BMC)PC Value: 24.7
Tom Boonen (OPQ) AR Value: 27.8
Juan Antonio Flecha (SKY) AR Value: 22.0

Johan Vansummeren (GRM) DS Value: 11.8
    Christopher Sutton (SKY)DS Value: 2.8
Jos van Emden (RAB) DS Value: 13.8
    Martin Elmiger (ALM)DS Value: 3.8
    Stijn Vandenbergh (OPQ)DS Value: 2.7

    Failing that i’ll have

    Mr. Tickle 71
    Mr. Greedy 71
    Mr. Happy 71
    Mr. Nosey 71
    Mr. Sneeze 71
    Mr. Bump 71
    Mr. Snow 72
    Mr. Messy 72
    Mr. Topsy-Turvy 72

The numbers indicate when they were first published, i know it might be slightly against the rules because they all race for the same team “Mr Men” đŸ‘¿

You’re welcome, shame you couldn’t spare 5 minutes picking your own team but I guess you don’t need the practice.

and there is the reason why this game it not played on the forums
Who’s playing the game on the forums? This is just a bit of fun for the weekend and an ego boost if my team goes well.

No luck this year, so this is part of my campaign for next year.
