Turbo – but, at what price?

Being cyclists we’re always looking for something new or better. We may not need a new bike but N+1 is always there in the back of our minds.  I’ve been looking at getting a turbo and think I’m heading towards either a CycleOps Magnus, Bkool Pro or Elite Rampa but then I see for another 100 or so I could get within sniffing distance of a direct drive Tax Flux and then I notice that may websites offer interest free on purchases over a certain amount.  Instead of being seduced by the offers I have to be sensible.

So out of the three is one better than the rest and if so why?

Is the CycleOps worth the extra £100over the other two?

I will be using it for trainer Road and other apps but not zwift as I don’t have the hardware to support it at this time.

Looking to do more focused training for longer rides from March onwards..

Be interested to hear on noise etc from anyone who has one of these already and I have Garmin edge 820 with the sensors -speed, cadence and heart rate and Android tablet and phone.

    Cheers.

    J.

    Noise-wise – you’ll

Noise-wise – you’ll definitely find that different trainers make a different pitched noise and that is probably as important as the actual volume when assessing irritation.  Check for videos on Youtube.

    Hi Jonny

    Hi Jonny

    Lots to consider 🙂

Happy to advise you as there is likely more than one answer and noise may be relevent to your neighbours as well as the people in your own home 🙂

Also, there are different levels of “smart” in smart trainers 🙂

    Call 020 8133 6432 if you like.
