EPS v3 … great, but what about disc brakes?

    Does anyone have an educated guess when Campagnolo are going to come out with what surely must be a Record EPS groupset with hydraulic disc brakes?

    I was hoping for relevant news from Eurobike but all I got was this “Mein Kampy” app (it looks intriguing – but come on, really unfortunate name, guys).

    I have a bad feeling that if I don’t hear anything from them about this before the year is up I may do the silly / impatient thing and buy last year’s Chorus EPS instead.

    Yes. It is good to talk. But I’m not at all interested in this thread becoming yet another place for people to vent their dislike for disc brakes. There is very little that is more yawn inducing than having the same old rehashed arguments over and over again. Plenty of threads for that elsewhere.

    Disks in amateur road races no thanks. I’ve yet to run out of braking power in the UK, the tyre contact area is the limiting factor. Also I have no wish to see this repeated when someone ends up landing on a rotor. The day disks are allowed is the day I retire from bunched racing.

    Oh aye, got the HyRd’s here – but am running Spyre SLC’s at the moment for weight savings. For mechanical disc brakes they’re nae bad. Nae bad at all.

    See, if you’re on an 11-speed groupset, you can sneakily cheat and use a Shimano cassette (or SRAM). Running two bikes like that at the moment, with Athena and Chorus.

    It’s probably sacrilege but works just as well. And comparing the price for an Ultegra cassette to even just a Chorus one …

    Also helps with finding wheels. 😉

    Yes, just like Ultra torque.

    Used nothing but Campagnolo from first road bike in early nineties until c.2008 when I swore off it, having reached the same conclusion as srchar.

    Wander into any bike retailer next spring and watch the boat leave the pier. If Campag aren’t on board the good ship Road Disc Brake by then (and the timeline above suggests that they won’t be) then all they will be able to do is watch and wave customers good bye.

    I have Ultegra with hydr
    I have Ultegra with hydr discs on my commuter, nothing special and in fact the RS685 right shifter is currently been sent back for a failure on it. I find there is nothing more smooth, reliable and sexy than a Campagnolo groupset, only downside I have found is the expense of replacing consumables

    Thanks. That was what I was after even though I was hoping for a much shorter time frame. 🙁

    Chorus EPS v2 & mechanical brakes it is then. Can always upgrade in a year’s time or two. 🙂
