Riding on your own – how many of you do this instead of a club ride?

Anyone enjoy riding on their own?

Personally just moved and in a dead area.
Cycling on my own to explore over the weekend.
Miss my local CC after many years on my own.

I used to ride with friends
I used to ride with friends as a kid and explore as a young teen on my own, then back in a pack/club then a became a ride leader – now need fitness!

I like the ideas above such as goal orientated rides on your own such as: hills or intervals and catching up with a club now and again.

Working long hours too, so I’m in a similar boat as everyone here trying to fit the rides in.

Riding clubs for one? Thought that was Strada! #o

    My riding times are too
My riding times are too inconsistent to consider joining a club (plus there’s nothing that close to me – I did look into it).

I’m time pressured enough without spending 30 minutes of my limited cycling time stopped at a cafe as well 🙂

I’ve never really tried the chain-gang thing or a club ride though – so I may be missing out 🙂

Mostly on my own, allows me to focus on what i need to be doing that day…intervals, hill climbing, sprints recovery etc etc. I do however ride for a club to let me race on a track and do go on a (not slightly club organised, just kinda happens) chain gang every Saturday.

I like both, only manage to
I like both, only manage to get out with club every few weeks as have to work round family commitments.

Club runs are good fun as are changangs which I hang on to, though I also enjoy my own company on the majority of my riding.

    I like club riding even
I like club riding even though I was one of the slowest. It takes a bit of concentration when in a pack, especially at pace. Most of my training, well 99% used to be solo, so i do like my own company more.

Mostly on my own unless my
Mostly on my own unless my brother comes over. Biggest problem is the motivation to ride just that litle bit further on the next ride. I don’t mind being on my own going at my own pace which has increased slightly recently, but I’m a terrible self-motivator.

I have tried clubs and not
I have tried clubs and not quite for me. Simply because not fast enough for the chain gangs and too fast for the strollers … Also frankly found them a bit cliquey for me and of course on your own you determine you own speed, route etc.

Plus I don’t like to stop as it wastes time really and we all have busy lives.
