I have combined/ mixed two cassettes( both cs6800 11speed) to give me a 14-32 cassette. Its great, I can attain 29 – 30 mph on the flat without have to spin crazily fast, have lovely mid range close ratios and 32T for bailout or steep hills. Ratios are 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 22 25 28 32.

I now have 3 sets of cassettes one 10 speed that came with my kickr (don’t need it as all my bikes are 11 speed) to sell one 12-25 cs6800 and the separated sets. I will keep them for spares 🙂

😀 Good point – we’ll just have to flog them on the MTB classifieds, they’ll seem quite normal there….

Nice ! I’m still hankering after a 12/13-30 for my 6800, with closer ratios at the hilly end of the block, but can’t do a DIY job… might try something more like this for a bit. How are you finding it ?

You can do a 12-32 biased to climbing with the 32-25 block from the 6800 11-32 and the rest from the Dura Ace 12-28 minus the 16T.

This gives you 12/13/14/15/17/19/21/23/25/28/32 which is six cogs at 19T or bigger as against five with the 11-32 on its own.

Aye, and I have the mid-range cogs from the 11-25 or 11-28 I could cannibalise, but it’s the 3-3-4 jumps at the end of the 11-32 that I tend to find just that little bit wrong although I appreciate that little something a bit over the 28. Something like

    13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25-27-30

would be interesting to try, although Miche do an off-the-shelf 12-30 which is tempting.

    I run a 6700 (10s) 12-28
I run a 6700 (10s) 12-28 cassette with a 52/36 6800 chainset. By taking out the 11t sprocket off an 11-28 then adding a16t sprocket gives me 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 24, 28 which is for me a really useful spread. The 36 ×28 will get me up everything round here in the Lakes and Dales.

    I love it, no problems
I love it, no problems mechanical. The close ratios work very well. I checked my logs I rarely exceeded 30mph on the flat and didn’t use 11 or 12 teeth to attain that speed. So I figured I didn’t need them but preferred a closer ratios where I would spend most of my cruising speed 18-22mph. I need the 28-32 as I weigh 95kg
