I am looking for a budget wheelset -no more than £150 for my Specialized allez to replace the Alex rims s500 it is supplied with. They need to be 11 speed compatible for my new groupset

    My options are
    Campagnolo Khasmin G3
    Shimano RS31
    Shimano RS11
    Shimano RS61
    Mavic Aksium one
    Fulcrum Racing 7 LG

I have been mainly looking at either the Fulcrums or the Shimano RS31’s
I am a new rider but would like to have a better wheels to the ones supplied and especially becuase i am going to upgrade to shimano 105 11 speed.
I like the look of the RS31 wheelset but i dont know whether the lighter Fulcrum R7 would be better.
Also, is there any advantage of the RS31 over the RS11 wheelset?
I know i will get many replies saying that each of the wheels i have listed are good/bad etc- does this mean they are all roughly the same?
I am not very heavy at all so that not an issue but i would like a smooth running, good looking wheel-set that will withstand a few bumps without breaking.

    You’d be better off spending
You’d be better off spending a bit more on Fulcrum 5 or RS61.

Had Khamsins on my road bike
Had Khamsins on my road bike for 2 years and 10k+ miles. No problems to report although the bike is having a service next week which may flag up something. Still dead straight.

    Controversial subject really
Controversial subject really you will find people who love one wheel set and others who hate them.

So to stick my opinion in my bike came with RS20 and were nothing but trouble. broken spokes, never ran true, and then eventually a spoke took out the rim.

Bought some Fulcrum 5’s for £160 from memory. Ran true from the day i bought them had about 3000 miles on them but have had to replace the bearings in the free hub and front wheel due to water ingress. From people i know who run fulcrum they all seem to run pretty good. I didn’t mind the bearing changes because they always got me home.

Waits for someone to say something completely different 🙂
