    Got my acceptance letter
Got my acceptance letter today. That’s three from three for me, all via the ballot. I’m a Londoner too, so I’m fairly sure there’s no bias for other parts of the country.

I’ve got one theory about the ballot – that your estimated entry time has something to do with it. I imagine the average time is around 5-6 hours to do the route, so there’ll be a lot of people putting that down as their time. There’s a lot of start times to fill up, and presumably each start wave has an estimated finishing time. So, perhaps you’ve more chance of getting through the ballot by being a faster rider? I imagine there are fewer riders who estimate a time around 4-4.30, and they (we) are the ones going in the early waves.

Just checked and it’s been cancelled. Mixture of disappointment and relief as it would have been a pricy weekend. Might just do a C2C2C with some friends instead.

When you register for the ballot you do NOT have to pay. However, IF you pay and you’re unlucky in the ballot, you get entered into a secondary round of the ballot. If you’re unlucky at that point your fee goes to charity and you don’t get a place.

If you log in (on a mobile), look at your receipt: it will either say Approved or Cancelled. If it’s cancelled, you’re out.

    1. What’s wrong with the website? We’re going to find out soon enough anyway so it really doesn’t matter if there is a leak, nobody has to look at.

    2. You also get a jersey and entry in to a ballot for the etape if you are unsuccessful and have donated your fee to charity.

Are you sure? I thought we had to provide bank details.

Mine is also showing as cancelled. Shame really, but I guess as a resident of SW London, I can just ride the route whenever I feel like it…

I hope it’s not correct, third year in a row cancelled, if so.

I don’t think I’ve known anyone who made it in through the ballot. I know people always bang on about whether there are quotas but I do wonder if only a certain number of “locals” are allowed in?

Just had a mosey at the link too and can’t see the word ‘cancelled’ on there anywhere… Maybe I am one of the lucky ones?! I’ll keep you posted…

It really is a crap website. After three years they should have improved it but they just don’t bother.
