Mio Cyclo GPS users

    I’ve been using a Mio Cyclo 105 GPS unit with heart rate monitor. Uploading data was done through MioShare software and it was possible to link data to STRAVA. You could also download the data files for each ride separately for use in other applications. Worked fine, with the odd usually after second attempt at upload. Mio changed to CycloAgent last week and now the process is a disaster. Incomplete ride data, ride graphs shortened etc. Other users report similar on Mio’s facebook page. Anyone else suffering same problem? Any wise people know of third party software that communicates with Mio Cyclos. My very old Garmin 205 still works and links to Strava or GPSBabel like a dream. So easy to use. A real nail in Mio’s coffin?

    Just got the desktop tool,
    Just got the desktop tool, but it doesn’t recognise my device. It says “Failed to detect the device. Check COM port setting for the device”

    The device however says “Connected to PC”…..

    I’ve still got Cycloagent installed. Maybe I need to remove this?

    Yes, you need the Magellan
    Yes, you need the Magellan Desktop PC tool first, this communicates with your Mio, which you should connect to PC first. I uninstalled CycloAgent first. I downloaded version 1.0.12 Magellan Desktop PC Tool, from the Magellan website, found under Cyclo 100 series. There is the facility in this tool under ‘file’ tab to download GPX, then you can upload to Strava etc.

    A solution! Many thanks to
    A solution! Many thanks to Truffy. The Mio Cyclo 105 will communicate with the Magellan desktop tool, which is a pretty handy little piece of software. This gem was gleamed from the unofficial CycloGPS forum. You can easily extract GPX files from here, or even share on the Magellan Active website. For all those Mio owners with ‘an expensive bike computer’, this is a workaround, at least until CycloAgent is fixed, or until funds allow the purchase of a Garmin!

This worked fine with the old software. I’ve taken to manually uploading the gpx files onto Strava (which works fine) – the problem seems to be that CycloAgent is interpreting them as tracks, rather than rides.

    As above from sten_super. Except I own a 305HC. Very depressing. Since purchase a couple of years ago, it has been back to manufacturer (at my expense) 3 times. Though to be fair their service team was very good. Now this CycloA’aaaggghhhhh’gent is causing my to also rethink my purchase. If I jack off the Christmas Presents for everyone I could get me a Garmin. I don’t want to but am seriously thinking about it. Come on MIO get your act together. Hurry up with a resolution, my unit has a few hundred miles or riding upon it and it won’t upload anything to the agent.

    Ellmo – I could have written
    Ellmo – I could have written that post myself, word for word! I had exactly the same faff as you, needing to connect my Mio105 twice to get it to upload the ride and be able to get to the GPX file.

    Then the other day I logged on and they’d changed the interface and I needed to use “Cycloagent”. I can’t connect it at all now, it says all ride data has been synced but I can’t see them in my history on Mioshare.

    It’s a shambles. I’ve emailed Mio help desk and they just said they were aware of the issue and looking for a fix.

    At the moment my Mio is nothing more than a posh bike computer. I’m on the verge of buying a Garmin cos the Mio is useless.

    The new software seems to have a few bugs. Rather depressingly, this is all rather familiar with previous releases.

    I currently have two problems with my Cyclo 315;
    i ) the touchscreen occasionally becomes unresponsive during a ride. The physical button still works (taking me backwards through the menu system) but the screen remains unresponsive. This was introduced by v4.0 of the software (at least I never experienced it before then) and the only fix is to format the system drive and re-install.
