Giro d’Italia – Stage 11

Unpredictable day today.  After a poor weekend and finding myself 200 points down on the lead I've decided it's time for a hail mary.

Four transfers for me today (including two penalties)

    Out: Nizzolo, Ferrari, Appollonio, Tjallingii

In: Pirazzi, De Gendt, Hansen, Bandiera

Which gives me: Evans, Pirazzi, De Gendt, Hansen, Bouhanni, Mezgec, Swift, Bandiera, Colli

In theory I’m covered against both a sprint (unlikely) and breakaway. The only result that would really scupper my chances would be a GC shoot-out on the final climb/descent

I think that’s a fat 69 scored by me today. Luckily I think it will be pretty low scoring all round.

    Brought in Uran for Bouhanni
Brought in Uran for Bouhanni for 9 solid GC points. No other changes. Taking a hit today to save transfers for the rest of the week.

Glad to see Androni are stopping this break for no other reason that they are not in it.

*sigh* ‘Matthews, Durbridge, Wegmann and Rubiano abandon the Giro’ http://www.cyclingquotes.com/news/matthews_durbridge_wegmann_and_rubiano_abandon_the_giro/ ‘Luke Durbridge went down in a crash on the descent from the first climb and left the race with a suspected broken collarbone. The Australian, already weakened by illness, had targeted tomorrow’s time trial. His team is now down to just 5 riders’

You’re kidding 😕 Matthews out when today might have been a good stage for him and Durbridge out when tomorrow is the TT? Wow… Where’d you hear?…

That’s a big break!… Never thought of Danny Moreno for the break… 😕 Wow… Him and Roche could scorch the others on the last climb… :W
