Is there any chance of a review of stage deadlines? The Giro ones are mostly 2-3 hours before the stage start with even the long and /or mountain stages being an hour before the start and the TTT is nearly 8 hours before. I don’t seem to remember this being the case in the past. The 2 hours or so before the start tends to be when team info regarding DNS’s comes out which would help for those who wish to leave their transfers late, or want to take penalties to avoid incomplete teams.

    Dave,
Is there any chance of having the GMT date/time back for deadlines on the home page. It’s nothing like as immediately obvious (using the image above as an example) that the stages 4 days away are actually different days, nor are the times as obvious without counting hours in one’s head (at least for me).

    Thanks Simon, for answering
Thanks Simon, for answering for me. I was out, and not by a computer.
To Gkam84 (who I think does a great job on here), I wrote “Time remaining was on the page to update your team, which made sense”. Surely that means the same as what you wrote for the “Pick team” part.
It’s the definition of time remaining for, for example, Stage 6 of the Giro in 6d14h59m that wasn’t (and still isn’t) necessary.
By having the dates on the list, it’s immediately apparent if there is a rest day or not.
Perhaps I’m being picky, but obviously I’m going to back my preferences for the presentation.
Despite all that, keep up the good work (I will now return to my position in the silent majority !) 🙂

Nobody claimed any different. The home page however, which used to show deadlines in GMT now has the same as the “pick team” page, which I don’t think is as useful as showing the actual time.

Why oh why have the deadline
Why oh why have the deadline date and times of upcoming events been changed on the Home Page to show the number of days, hours, and minutes remaining ?
Before it showed the date, and the time GMT. Time remaining was on the page to update your team, which made sense.
If someone is so stupid they cannot understand GMT they would never be able to navigate their way around the site anyway !
PLEASE change it back to how it was. That was clear and obvious. The system now is not.

Can I suggest a cut off time
Can I suggest a cut off time of 9.00.9135

    Same time before every stage
Same time before every stage is perfect for dunces like me who can’t figure out how long they’ve got. 9am every day suits me fine.

    One hour before the start
One hour before the start seems generous enough and the chances of a rider dropping out after the 1 hour prior to the start is quite slim so i dont think its going to hurt to many people to be honest.

The above was basically my next comment but Dave beat me to it.

i’ve set them to one hour before stage start. that’s what we normally do for the grand tours. i’ll double check them too before the off…

Personally, I’d like to see them even closer to the start and the same rule applied to all races, but we can’t always have everything we want. At least this is consistent – Cheers Dave

Then we would just get people
Then we would just get people complaining about missing the deadline because it wasn’t at a decent time.

So it is a no win situation.

They are all set to 9am. This
They are all set to 9am. This is so that people do not have to keep checking every stage, they know the deadline.

Otherwise you get deadlines all over the shop
