    hi,

i am looking to get some new kit just a short sleeve jersey and some bibbed shorts.

anyone got any good suggestions/past experience with kit.

i currently have some cheap (but very good) DHB kit i use for commenting and wanted to get something new and better comfort wise.

anyone have any suggestions – i know most kit is personal preference but i just wanted to get an idea of what people have found good.

    cheers!

Endura FS260 Pro bibs and bib
Endura FS260 Pro bibs and bib 3/4s have proven to be hard wearing and comfy but these are also a great bargain if you don’t mind advertising german tyres:

they are bit on the smaller size so be generous.

I’ve got a couple of bits
I’ve got a couple of bits from Galibier Velo, a long sleeve training top and some 3/4 bibs, very good and well priced.

I have to say I’m very impressed with a pair of Altura Pro Gel bibs I bought recently, they’re very comfortable over long distance and I suspect they’ll become my Sportive bibs of choice.

Finally I have some rather expensive Nalini bibs and jersey and whilst they look very nice they’re expensive and only as good as the cheaper stuff!

    I’ve got the Howies bib
I’ve got the Howies bib shorts. They’re an updated version of the pair reviewed here– I had a pair of the original ones too, but after a design issue saw the pad fall apart, they swiftly replaced them with the updated version. They’ve been superb ever since. The updates, as well as getting the pad right, see the “radio pocket” removed from the back- this was more of a sweat catcher- with the back material now more of a lightweight mesh.

They’re superb. Comfy. I like the look too- the matt black makes them reminiscent of ye olde woollen shorts, setting them apart from shiny lycra ones. The all-black couldn’t be more “Rules” compliant if you tried, and I’m happy to back that “rule” all the way.

I’ve recently bought a Vulpine merino short sleeve. Not worn it much yet, but so far impressed. Not great (as they say) if you’re an inveterate pocket stuffer, but if you are, reconsider how much you need to carry anyway! Not entirely convinced by the button pocket closure- I’d rather this was a magnet. Again, classy style- you’re not turned into a rolling billboard =))

Dhb are good. But for a step
Dhb are good. But for a step up, Zipvit make some excellent kit, which is very competitively priced. I think because it turns you into a rolling billboard for them. Which I don’t mind! pro tip – sign up for their newsletter, they regularly do kit discounts.
