The race should be open soon and runs tomorrow so there's not much time to pick your teams.

It's a proper classic with plenty of short sharp climbs and, by the sounds of it, some crap 'cobbles' too.

Three time winner (and reigning champ) Marriane Vos isn't riding but a lot of the other big names in the women's peloton are racing and it should be a good race and with British interest in the shape of Lizzie Armitstead (who finished 7th last year), Lucy Martin and Emma Grant there's plenty to cheer for even if you don't know any of the other riders.

It is going to be scored as a classic one day race. 50 for the winner…10 for breakaway at half way….etc

If you hadn’t noticed the Women’s World Cup is now open for you to start tinkering with your teams. It’s a tough selection, especially if you want to pick more than a couple of the big names.

Are we going to be scoring
Are we going to be scoring the sprints, young rider and mountains like we would in a stage race or is it going to be like the men’s one dayers – finish line and halfway break only?

I’d like to see all the subsidiary comps scored if possible but whichever, I’d mostly just like to know.

One thing to bear in mind as it’s March and it’s classics and cold and horrendous, is some of these girls have carried some immaculate “wintery” form from the CX season & early season RR’s. Noteably some of the Dutch and American girls are flying at the moment. 🙂

Looking forward to this race! Love the women’s classics they’re always bonkers 😀

I scanned the startlist and noted down all the names I recognised, the list came to 13 riders! I then checked the podiums of all the World Cup races last year and that added another 6 names. All of those 19 riders were in one of 8 teams, and 13 of them were over 20 credits. So it looks like 6-7 “top” riders, and 2-3 totally random picks from the smaller teams. Should be fun!
