Road/CX Bike with discs

    C2W is coming my way in May/June and given the time available I’m doing some research into bikes I can get. I’m looking for a bike with the following spec:

    Alloy frame
    Disc brakes with the rear brake on the chain stay, not seat stay.
    Mudguard mounts on the forks and frame
    Rack mounts on the frame
    Shimano or Sram 10 speed shifting, though Shimano is my preference.
    Would prefer a CX type bike but road style would suffice but must have the above spec
    Final thing as it’s a C2W bike £1k limit.

    I’ve looked at Boardman CX bikes but the CX Comp is only 9 speed which my current bike is but it does have mudguard eyes on the forks, the CX Team is 10 speed Sram but no mudguard eyes.

    I’m very happy with my Pinnacle Arkose 2 (2013 model). The 2014 Arkose 2 is a little esoteric, with hydro brakes, bar end shifter and single ring, but the 2014 Arkose 3 is worth a look:

    The 2013 Arkose 2 meets the following of your requirements:
    Alloy frame
    Disc brakes with the rear brake on the chain stay, not seat stay.
    Mudguard mounts on the forks and frame (though a little bending of stays is needed to clear the front disc caliper, it’s not difficult. You’re unlikely to find a disc fork without this issue.)
    Rack mounts on the frame
    Shimano 10 speed shifting (Tiagra)
    CX type bike.
    Under £1k.

    I also use mine for weekend road riding with 25c slicks.

    Advise checking mudguard and rack eyes on particular model you are buying as i have a recollection that they are leaving the eyelets off the fork on one of this year’s models for some unfathomable reason.
