Need a new helmet?

    Hit a patch of ice and came off my bike yesterday. I’m generally ok (road rash and bruising) and bike is *mainly* cosmetic damage, but my helmet took a bump on the side and has some scrape/scuff marks at the front.

    Structurally the helmet still feels solid and has no cracks, major dents or anything like that. Question is do I need a new helmet?

    Is there a way of checking or testing the helmet to see if it is still sound, or is it better (safer) to get a new one after any sort of road impact?

    Check with the brand too.. Some manufacturers will give you a huge discount on a replacement helmet if you hand in your old damaged one. For example Specialized are known for their crash replacement policy.
