New Metric Century Challenge

    We have completed the first years Metric Century Challenge, and I have a few suggestions.

    Should we start a new thread for this years challenge to keep it neat and tidy. Also start a new metric century chat thread too.

    I think we should not worry about getting in one scoring ride every month, that way it is a bit more inclusive, and people won’t feel like they can’t join in if they either miss a month or don’t see it until later in the year.

    Lastly, can I claim longest ride – 225.3km

    Highest score in a month – June, 7 points

    Highest total score – 54 points

    That was a good year, and the challenge meant there were times when I used it as a good excuse to put in more miles, and times when it forced me to stay out when I really fancied going home…

    I have a few challenges this coming year that require me to get some good miles in, so will be in again this year.

    The rules look fine, hopefully more will take part this year.

    Thought I may get DaSy quaking in his Sidi’s as I had hoped to finish work in January and become a full time rider. This was changed to April and now I may stay a little longer as there may be an opportunity of redundancy which is financially appealing. Don’t want to give up the money on the other hand don’t want to stay indefinitely.

    My original plan was 4,000k in June / July!

    I am going to have to try harder this year! It will, I expect, be the DaSy show once more but if I can get toward 1 metric a week I will be satisfied.

    Got some Gore Ride-On cables easily to hand if you fancy them… they are supposed to be the best there is… Well according to Gore anyway

    I must admit I was thinking
    I must admit I was thinking of something a bit more along the lines of a half sleeve of Japanese Art, with obligatory Dragon, or possibly some Tribal Art, as I have an old tat that I would like to cover up (tribal, but not really as dramatic as I want now).

    I’m thinking something along the lines of Pedal Powered 2009 – maybe your distance total? Or do you fancy something a tad more graphical?

    Maybe next year we could follow the lead of the SSWC and the winner gets branded… or maybe not

    The even better news is that because you’re the first winner you get to design it. All those suggestions seem pretty good to me, I’m with Fringe and Dasy in thinking that not having a monthly entry requirement is a good thing cos my opportunities to get out on a longer rides are completely sporadic especially as the web doesn’t really stop at the weekend, but I’m sure we can have two categories.
