Just to warn anyone who would use their services between different countries in Europe…

I just ordered an item valued at 125 € (price  + shipping) from R2-bike, and selected UPS as carrier (local post service was not available in the list).

Now UPS is asking me to pay 42 € in import charges, while my local VAT is “only” 8%… they list 27 € in “brokerage fees”, in addition to “government charges and VAT (i.e. 15 € that’s what the local post and administration would have charged!)

They mention that “Additional charges may have been applied based on recent tariff policy changes” but neither my country (CH) nor the country where the shop is located (DE) nor the country that is producing this item (AU) have changed their tariffs for now!

Not sure if UPS is recouping some of the money they are losing in their home market, or were they already doing that before? I can’t even remember the last time I had something delivered by them, but that time I will remember!
