Is there such a thing as a non-smart direct drive trainer?

    Maybe been asked before but I can’t see anything.

    I’m not bothered about connecting to Zwift but would prefer a direct drive trainer to replace my hit-n-miss turbo. Do they exist – non-smart direct drive trainers that is, not aliens, which obviously do.

    No, don’t think so. What is it your turbo doesn’t do that you would like it to? A DD trainer doesn’t have to be used with Zwift, most come with free proprietary apps that you can use to control the basic parameters of gradient etc without needing to be on Zwift or other VR apps, just give you a basic dashboard.

    I’m not sure but having a smart trainer is more than just connecting to Zwift. It’s genuinely useful for training even if you just use the common or garden software you get with the trainer itself. 

    Plus DD smart trainers have come down in price so much now Im not sure there’d be much difference in price between smart and dumb
