Can anyone explain to me why a Shimano WH-R600-R Complete Freehub Body is not compatible with my 105 HG 10 speed cassette?

The first 1cm of the Shimano WH-R600 hub is compatible, and then the ridges stop the full engagement of the cassette.

Is there a completely different HG system for Ultegra hubs?

    Help apprecaiated?

Thanks for input, appreciate the feedback. In the end I used a file, and made it fit.

    Looking for newer freehubs now…

It looks the body on a WH-R600-R freehub is matched to a 10-speed cassette design used on Ultegra and Dura-Ace of the time (possibly 105 too?) but since then Shimano has moved away from the stepped design, using a uniform spline height. Presumably you’ve got a more modern cassette.

Looks like you’ll either need to upgrade your freehub (probably the better option) or hunt down some matching 10 speed cassettes.

Sounds like you have the shimno technical dead-end tall-spline 10 speed freehub.  Can’t be changed so you need to source NOS cassettes or a new hub / wheel.
