Recently I went into a cycle shop in York. Inside for service was a bike which I noticed was very similar to one I had stolen in April 2018 from the centre of York. At the time two bikes were taken. On further inspection and after leaving the shop on two occasions I realised that the bike was actually mine. I informed the staff in the shop and also contacted the police. The police could do nothing until I could prove the bike was mine. This I did later that day by sending numerous photos of the bike which showed a number of changes made by me. I had not registered the bike on the bike register and didn’t have a copy of the frame number. Please ensure that you register your bikes on bike register with all details you can. I was lucky to have a number of good photos showing my bike in detail, so could prove it was mine. I had the bike returned to me the next day.
