Following yet another birthday, I am now the proud owner of a Garmin 530. I am looking forward to tracking my decline into old age as my performance decreases but at least I will know where I am whilst it happens.

I have the data screens set up but have a couple of questions about the mapping and navigation.

1. How do I get village and other place names to display?

2. I can download .gpx routes via the computer, but cannot for the life of me work out how to do it via the mobile phone app. Surely this is a basic function and I am overlooking something obvious? I’m not convinced that I’d be wanting to plan a route using the tiny screen or have to rely on the public routes made available via Garmin Connect.

3. The alarm function seems useful, but only sends a single notification accompanied by a single notification sound to my phone. Not so useful if you miss it. Anyone know how to make this a continuous kind of alarm notification? (Android on Sansung).
