I’ve never seen on on the isle of wight either, but I did see one in the lake district last year.

Mrs HawkinsPeter and I both saw a gang of red squirrels in the lake district a few years ago. They were in a fenced of bit of garden by Allan Bank.

A shocking change but ‘twitter’ is no data provenance so please advise the source?

@amazingmap on twitter, but otherwise source not given.

Coincidentally, I saw this map on twitter today.

Well here’s a pic you can show her if that helps

Apparently there’s a genetic difference between the west-side and east-side squirrels there. https://onthewight.com/isle-of-wights-red-squirrels-scientists-reveal-surprising-findings/

the Guardian article was a bit on the long side for me, but when I read ‘The telly was off the wall, plates were smashed,’ I’m thinking there’s no chance that they left teenagers home alone for Easter or something, a Facebook/ friends of friends party ensued and now the squirrels are getting the blame?
