Road.cc has become unusably slow

It’s been getting slower and slower to load pages over the last month or so but now it is almost completely unuseable. For instance just to create this post took more than 6 minutes waiting. If it carries on like this I shall have to think seriously about my subs.

Depends on your browser. On Chrome desktop, for example, you can right-click > Inspect > Application and delete whatever bits and pieces you want for that site.

For anyone else having problems logging in, clearing your browser cache can help.

I renewed my subscription recently and couldn’t log in (not sure if the two are connected). All the adverts were back as well. I emailed road.cc with the problem. They finally got back to me after a week and another email. I was advised to clear the browser cache for road.cc (impossible of course, to clear the cache for a single website in a browser – you’ve got fo either data or storage or both). After doing that and logging in again, the adverts have at least disappeared but the pink “subscribe” banner is still there. Probably the best it’s going to get but it is a bit annoying. Also VERY slow to load forums…

Just to answer a couple of recent queries on this thread* too:

    – The ‘endless loop’ of being logged out after logging in is the most pressing issue of all, and we’re hoping this will be resolved very soon. It’s a very large problem for staff too, so trust us when we say that pressure is being applied multiple times a day on this.

    – We’re not going anywhere – we’ve recently migrated millions of pieces of content and all the other gubbins that makes up road.cc, off.road.cc and ebiketips across to a different content management system, and unfortunately that presents a number of problems that were difficult to foresee before we went live with the revamped sites. We’ll get there, but it’s going to take a while.

*I’d prefer to reply to you all directly but of course, that doesn’t work right now. Apologies!

Not linking the revamped site at all – seems like the end of the line ATM

Anyone else having issues with the site at the moment? I seem to be able to post here (though the forum presentation looks like it’s gone back to 2006) but can’t post on articles – tells me I’m not logged in, and logging in just returns me to the homepage in an endless loop…

That was from 2019. That won

That was from 2019. That won’t be the cause of this problem.

    eBikeTips and off-road.cc

eBikeTips and off-road.cc still not working on Chrome Version 118.0.5993.89  – however they do seem to work on edge.

    So *touches wood* we should

So *touches wood* we should be fully back to normal now! It turns out it was a server issue all along, very frustrating it’s took this long to resolve and apologies to everyone once again. Thanks for bearing with us, I’ll admit some furniture of mine might have been damaged while trying to work on the super slow version of the site last week…

How do you know that they are

How do you know that they are not a subscriber or allow ads?

Posting on here helps too as it is a stat for potential advertisers.
