    Hello,

My 10 speed Ultegra 6600 STI shifters ( the type with the cables protruding from the brake lever) are beginning to play up after 12+ years of service. I cannot easily locate new 10 speed Ultegra STI shifters with the hidden cables. Last time I looked, Ebay had used but that is a road that I do not wish to go down. An option is to install new 10 speed 105 STI shifters.

On my bike now I have the aforementioned Ultegra shifters, a 10 speed Shimano cassette, SRAM chain & an Ultegra 6600 rear mech. The rear hub is from an off the shelf Zonda wheelset purchase.

If I bought 11 speed Ultegra shifters then am I right in thinking that the cassette, chain & rear mech would all need to be replaced with parts that would support 11 speed shifting ?

I would appreciate your thoughts on my options… Thank you.

    If you’re looking for cheap,

If you’re looking for cheap, readily available replacement shifters, go for Tiagra 4600. They still have external cables; Shimano’s early attempt at hidden cables, on the Ultegra 6700 shifters you mention, weren’t great.

    £100 from Merlin: https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-tiagra-4600-sti-levers-pair-62073.html
