I’m trying to get to grips with the LTN 1/20 Guidelines, but it’s nearly 200 pages !

If an A-barrier is taken out, am I correct that the approved replacement is a 1.5m gap, or bollards with 1.5m gaps between them?

    Thanks.

    Thanks, both.

    Thanks, both.

Just trying to target my “obstruction” submission.

Quite willing to go full accessibility hoon on them point by point, but I’d prefer just to cite the regs through the normal process and see if it works without taking lots of evreyones time. I have potentially scores of these to do.

Not just LTN 1/20 – see also

Not just LTN 1/20 – see also Inclusive mobility.  Theres a section on clearances and min widths, (section 4.2) 1.5m should be the min with 1m at unavoidable pinch points for not more than a distance of 6m, there’s nothing else specifically related to access points I can think of other than this and 8.3 of LTN 1/20.

Could possibly cite precedence from min access point regulations to buildings from the building regulations Part M?

    There’s a table in section 5

There’s a table in section 5.5 Cycle lane and track
    widths
that lists 1.5m as the absolute minimum width of a cycle lane or track.

There’s also this in section 8.3 Access controls

An alternative method is to provide bollards
at a minimum of 1.5m spacing, which allows users to
approach in a straight line whilst permitting all types
of cycle and mobility scooter to gain access. If access
is required by wider maintenance vehicles, a lockable
    bollard can be used
