I’ve got a shimano sora groupset on my defy and have recently changed the front mech. I had this done at my local bike shop but now the chain is rubbing on the mech in the outer big ring and the lower gears on the cassette.

If I push the front lever in the noise goes which I’m guessing means it needs more tension but when I turn the barrel it doesn’t do anything!

All I want is quiet gears lol.
Any ideas?

Nipped back to the lbs.. he put bit more tension on and showed me how to use the trimming on the lever. 
 

I have heard about it and tried to do it but after being shown today I should be ok now!! Thanks for the replies

The Barrel adjuster should

The Barrel adjuster should pull the front mech further away from your frame which should stop the rubbing, so what you’re doing sounds right if you can get it to work!

Are you saying it only rubs

Are you saying it only rubs when you are on the big ring at the front and back?But fine when in higher gears? Are you using the trim at all?

Maybe alter the height of the

Maybe alter the height of the mech slightly (higher) and twist mech round slightly to change alignment of chain & mech?
