Thanks for the heads-up on that. Did a bit of digging, turns out it was sanctioned by police, ultimate destination was the rally calling for better infra etc. Several feeder rides came together then rode the autobahn section with police escort, road closures were timetabled. The autobahn operators took the issue to court last week to try and prevent it happening, but lost.

Protests from different perspectives though.
The one in Germany was about better public transport and cycling provision while those who glue themselves to the roads here in the UK are concerned about the use of oil to power transport and its effect on climate change.
That 7500 people turned out to protest in Germany, a country with far better public transport and cycling infrastructure than the UK shows how far behind the curve we are.
No wonder protesters here have to take extreme action to get headlines in the news.
I'm with Elon Musk on this.
If we stopped using fossil fuels now our society would simply collapse.
Just look at the chaos being wrought across Europe by a reduction in the supply of one fossil fuel from one country.
Imagine what would be happening if no fossil fuels were available.
