Has the existing drainage been cleared? Back when this first came up, I noticed (during a routine ride) that the drains were all blocked up. No mention of the existing drainage in the article and I've since moved away from Bristol.
Not so far, no.
Please put any comments below HP's forum post instead
Cheers - I could do with the extra ad revenue.
I suspect road.cc will pick up on this in due course anyhow as they've covered Whiteladies Road previously.
I'll wait till the article gets recycled in the 24/7, as the Post's site is so slow and crashogenic, but I have a feeling this is probably to do with friction between council officers and Mayor Marvin, or whoever he had in Transport at the time, rather than the lane itself.

So, it was proposed that the public purse and public land be used to make up for all those (privately owned) offices along there paving over their front gardens for their car parking...
Indeed. I wonder if they got planning permission for pushing over the front gardens.
I thought they needed PP if it was not permeable.
Better parking on their fronts than on the street.
Yeah they're mostly tarmacked though.
