I have heard a few cyclists in London using a sort of chirping noise bell thingy to alert people who are about to walk into the road/cycle path. I am assuming its electronic but no idea what it is or where I can get one. I quite like the idea of it over a traditional bell. Seems less aggressive.

Anyone have any ideas what it is?

The horn mode is better for

The horn mode is better for quieter areas. Chirping mode for roads. The chirping mode is louder, but if you’re in a park you run the risk that people will look up to see what sort of bird it is.

Just seen the video from 2015

Just seen the video from 2015 advertising that where the start is two cyclists being hit. The first appears terrifying as not only does the cyclist get hit by a car turning into a junction, he then almost got driven over by the other car emerging from the same junction who didn’t even notice the crash right in front of them.

That Hornit db140 seems to be the right sound so I think thats the one.

I’ve used the Hornit db140 which can be configured to sound a chirping noise. It’s certainly loud and works better than a bell in Central London. It’ll be a bit excessive for parks or quieter areas.

You can use it as a regular bell, or it can be set to “ring” all the time, as you go over bumpy ground.

I use this on my bike, as well as a regular bell.
It’s useful to warning people at long distances that they’re in the way ? or cars.
You know, those people who aimlessly walk in the middle of the road, with their unleashed dogs. Not paying attention to what’s around them.
