The family of a man in intensive care with a serious head injury after coming off his bicycle in Clapton-in-Gordano are appealing for help to try to piece together what happened.
Tim Davey, 56, was riding home from work in Nailsea to Portishead at around 5.30pm on November 25.
Emergency services were alerted at 5.50pm after a passer-by had found Mr Davey, who has been cycling the route regularly for around 20 years, lying injured in the road.
The road was closed for more than four hours while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
Mr Davey was rushed to Southmead Hospital and remains in intensive care where his condition is described as ‘stable.’
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of how Mr Davey, an experienced cyclist, ended up in the road.
His distraught family are now appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident – or dashcam footage – to contact the police.
