Bike lanes and narrowed streets don’t slow emergency vehicles

This is a summary of a study on U.S. road diets - where a four lane highway is changed into a three lane one along with cycle infrastructure.

The study is here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2590198224001441

Glad to note that no squirrels were harmed in the making of that image. I went into this non-issue a few months ago:

If you read the board papers of the ambulance trusts, discussing ambulance performance, LTNs and the like are never discussed. It simply isn't relevant.

If you are an emergency patient wondering how long it is going to be before an ambulance arrives, you are taken to hospital, gain access to A&E and then how long it will take to be seen by a doctor, this piece of mine is for you.  It's a matter of luck and timing, but there's a lot more standing between you and salvation at hospital than a couple of planters, I am sorry to say.

An interesting article but the more pressing concern is that the pictured Fire Fighting Squirrel doesn't seem to know how to wield an axe properly. Is the arboreal world safe for those of a Sciurus Carolinensisian disposition? We need to know.

They're in training and looks to need quite a bit more. I think they're mainly a danger to themselves.

Here's a more proficient one

...love that picture, probably your best yet. I'd give you an extra 'like' if only it were allowed.

While they might be keen on firefighting (unless they favour roasted nuts) I suspect the idea of chopping wooden things down is against their nature...

Having done some research I now suspect that the squirrel shown may in fact be about to set a fire, or short out some power lines...
