My boyfriend has a bit of a sensitive stomach, and a lot of the hydration and energy products are just full of sweeteners and caffeine, both of which make his bowels loose and disturb our long training club rides. Does anyone have any success in similar situations?

Gcn had some recipes for home

Gcn had some recipes for home made rice cakes which I guess could be adapted for low “fodmap” diets. I think you could batch cook them and freeze individual portions.

    I’ve got Crohn’s and suffer
I’ve got Crohn’s and suffer some of the same issues. I usually stick to homemade flapjack and water – sometimes I drop a berocca in the bidon if I want some flavour (and for my pee to be see-in-the-dark too of course).

I stick to a simple recipe like the one below and I might chuck in some raisins, almonds etc if I’m feeling adventurous and well (stomach wise).

I know the recipe doesn’t have a high rating, but honestly I love it – very simple with minimal mess – just one pan, one spoon and one oven tin to wash up.

I eat dried fruit and gummy

I eat dried fruit and gummy candies, which seem to be fine for me. Really, he’s just going to have to experiment to see what he can safely use.

My stomach isn’t extremely sensitive, but if I have my normal avocado at breakfast it’s not a good idea for me to go for a ride right away.
