the automaker notes that an LED display in the vehicle’s grille can be used for “communication.” Lighting symbols can be used to signal intent to other road users, such as left or right turns. Illuminated “eyebrows” can translate as turn signals, and so forth.

Erm, but aren't autonomous vehicles legally obliged to 'signal intent', the same as a living driver would be?

Not "tech" or "disruptive" though is it?

I've always been tickled by the narrative of massive corporations - or startups financed by massive corporations - casting themselves as dandy highwaymen.  Actually "disruptive" just means trying to make money and screw the competion - and incidentally probably lots of other stuff.  Just like some normal companies.
