Here’s my list of the most disappointing riders in the Tour de France based on the points they got compared to their value.

Of course, some of them crashed out, others lost their nerve, others just didn’t show up (!).

24.3 Jurgen Van Den Broeck 1
    23.0 Przemyslaw Niemiec 1
    12.0 Eduard Vorganov 1
    33.6 Thomas Voeckler 4
    19.6 Rein Taaramae 3
    30.4 Thibaut Pinot 5

I wonder how their DS’s feel about them?

Will they be thrown at the Vuelta to make ammends? 😕

It’s really surprising (!) to not have seen Voeckler and Niemic more active (!)

Gasparotto….with so many classic type stages I expected at least a top 3 on a stage.

Gilbert….Hasn’t exactly covered the rainbow jersey in glory has he?

Pinot didn’t pull out because he was scared of descending, that was the commentators making up their own story. Here’s why he pulled out https://twitter.com/ThibautPinot/status/357244750706925568/photo/1

Nice! I’m sure he mentioned somewhere that he wasn’t feeling comfortable on the descents, and I think the commentators just ran with it, and then mentioned he had an illness, as if he was trying to cover up being scared of going down descents!
Was dissapointed for him, becuase there was a lot of hope surrounding him coming in to it, and good form form the Tour De Suisse

    Le Mevel deserved his low
Le Mevel deserved his low value. Dreadful Tour from a French rider, who is usually ok.

De Gendt, he was not working for anyone! especially me.

    Navarro and Niemiec, Cunego.

Perhaps Sagan! Sounds strange but no stage win for the Tourminator.

Outperformers had to be AG2r despite losing Peraud and Bouet had riders giving it a go in many stages.

Sagan won stage 7! Navarro 9th on GC! Only one person, I think, on my GC game put him in the top 10 at 9th or 10th.

De Gendt was out there a few times. He never looked as if he had the energy to finish anythin though. I think I had him in my team before the second ITT and he scored some break points then but nothing in the ITT unfortunately. Had him out after that.

FDJ had a lot of bad luck but don’t know what Pinot will do if he can’t descend. But they are usually good in the
breaks and they didn’t do much except Jeannesson 3rd once. Vichot also crashed just before I was hoping he’d do something but could have tried before as he was the national champion.

You can’t expect a lot from Italian riders in the Tour.

Big surprise for me was Riblon even though his heroics cost me in another game. TVG as well made up for a terrible start even though it must have hurt like hell when Riblon blasted past him.

Gasparotto was doing all the work for Fugslang, the same as EBH was for Froome.

Gilbert was looking after a couple of the BMC guys, given free reign in the last few days though and good on the tv a fair bit

If Gilbert was looking after BMC guys(presumably Evans and Tejay)he wasn’t even doing that very well….surely you’d bring Cummings for that kind of gig anyway?

Lampre seem to have a stronger squad for Poland than LeTour!!

Cav, maybe? OK, not his best tour but faced strongest competition ever and still won two, possibly three, stages.

I was thinking more GC, its a bit easier to jump from tour to tour as a sprinter, especially for someone as experienced as Cav

Pinot…..pulling out because you’re scared of a descent is poor.

Ferrari….expected him up there with Kittel et al.

Degenkolb….but to be fair he’s kind of been second fiddle to Kittel on Argos.

Gasparotto….with so many classic type stages I expected at least a top 3 on a stage.

Gilbert….Hasn’t exactly covered the rainbow jersey in glory has he?

    In actual (rather than
In actual (rather than Fantasy points) terms, I think it’s a bit harsh to have a pop at riders who already rode the Giro (Evans especially, who was on the podium and road very cannily).

I’d be tempted to say Goss as well. Even against last year, he’s now so clearly in a league below the big four sprinters, and isn’t really competing with the second-rank likes of Kristoff and even his own leadout either.

Overall though I’d have to say Gilbert. Did not do the rainbow jersey proud.
